Safe Home for Toddlers
The term "toddlers" is used to refer to children between one and two years of age. This stage is the time when your kids learn to be mobile. Children would start being very curious at this phase too. As such they would be more prone to accidents, even if you or a nanny is around to watch over them. Therefore, it is imperative that you make your home as safe for your kids as possible. Do not worry because you would not have to do extensive renovations for this. Find below some simple steps to improve your home into a safer environment for toddlers.
The first thing to think about is the stability of your furniture. Know that most of toddler-oriented home accidents involved children being toppled over by bookcases, tables, and chairs. So, you need to make sure that all your furnishings are securely anchored. Additionally, try to keep your child away from furniture with pointed corners like tables and dressers. If not, cover these items with material that can blunt the corners.
Another thing you can do is make your windows and stairs safe for your toddler. For the windows, keep window cords out of reach. If you have wide windows, it is best to keep them closed or fitted with window guards to avoid your child from falling outside. As for stairs, stair gates should also be utilised for protection. One more thing, make sure that your electric sockets are covered and that wires are hidden to prevent electrocution.
By applying all these simple home improvement ideas, your home will definitely become more conducive for your active and curious toddler.
